Our instructors teach across the City of Salford, including Pendleton, Eccles, Swinton, Walkden, Worsley, Irlam and Cadishead, in manual and automatic cars.

Driving in Salford

Salford sits right next to the city centre, with busy main roads carrying traffic into Manchester and some of the region's biggest motorway junctions on its edges, where the M60, M61 and M62 meet. The East Lancs Road (A580) runs out through Swinton and Walkden, and away from the main roads, Eccles, Worsley and Irlam have quieter residential streets that are ideal for first lessons and manoeuvres. Learning here means getting used to heavy traffic early, at your own pace.

Your test in Salford

Salford has no driving test centre of its own. The nearest is Cheetham Hill in Manchester, a busy, urban centre where confident observation at junctions and roundabouts makes the difference.

Before your test, your instructor takes you through a mock test on the roads around the centre you've booked, run the way an examiner runs it. But we never teach a route: DVSA doesn't publish them, and they change. We teach you to drive well anywhere, so you're ready for whatever the examiner chooses. Find a test centre on GOV.UK.
